FAS

FAS is responsible for implementing the Bolsa Floresta Program - a pioneering Payment for Environmental Services program - in 15 protected areas of Amazonas State in Brazil. Up to date, over 33,000 people are benefited by this program with aims at forest conservation and poverty alleviation of traditional population.

The FAS ODK Project is part of the Bolsa Floresta Program's monitoring activities and is a pilot project applied to the forest monitoring done in partnership with Imazon. As this technology was tested and had its efficiency proved for the forest monitoring component, FAS is willing to use this arrangement to other components monitored in the protected areas, such as carbon stock, socio economic and biodiversity indexes.
